We are currently primarily setting and servicing Aquariums and Aviaries in nursing and residential care facilities. It is exciting to go back every 2 weeks and see the residents congregated around the Aquarium and or Aviary. They are always interested in what we are doing and if we are adding fish or birds. We are beginning to set them in professional offices, businesses, homes, daycares & and churches...as a matter of fact, they fit well in almost any establishment.
We made the decision a short time ago to try breeding some of our fish. We started with a male and female 'red' ( my favorite with blues being next) pair of South American Cyclids. This being a homebased business the only place to set the 3rd aquarium (the breeding tank) was in the dining room. Today I came in from church and glanced at the tank and to my amazement there were hundreds of babies. I watched them and learned what Mel had told me earlier. They don't eat their young, they stay right with them and after a few hours the babies started to wander off...this is what first scared me then proved to be one of the things Mel had told me to expect..the male would go and get the strays, put them in his mouth, bring them back to the other babies and then spit them out. He will be kept very busy, no doubt. Mom just swims around them constantly as though she is keeping count. We will separate another couple next (blues I hope) and wait anxiously for more babies. We have newborn finches and doves in the Aviaries each time we service them. 'The Aquatics Store' 106 W Sugarloaf St, Heber Springs, Arkansas is now open. 'An Aquarium as Part of Your Lifestyle'
Stress Reduction:
Aquariums are an anchoring or stabilizing feature that counterbalances the hectic and uncertain events of your life. Day to day craziness can catch up with you, but having something stable, concrete, and serene to contrast the chaos can provide a beneficial balance. Simply seeing aquarium plants sway back and forth, watching fish glide effortlessly through the smooth water, or hearing the gentle trickle of water from the filter can be very soothing and relaxing. As you sit and enjoy your aquarium you will be amazed how the stress of the day's activities vacates your mind and body.
Distinct Focal Point
Not only is an aquarium a great way to bring peaceful retreat to your home, it also adds an unexpected focal point to any room. Are you tired of guests seeing only the big screen when they first walk into a room? Redirect their attention with a bright, beautiful aquarium. Place the aquarium on a decorative, furniture quality stand to make a grand statement. An attractive aquarium serves as a stunning showpiece you can show off to guests, like you would an elegant art piece or dazzling decor. Add your favorite fanciful decorations and bold, brightly colored fish to bring beauty to any room and to captivate the attention of anyone who enters.
Entertainment
An aquarium filled with fish, intriguing decorations or lush plants can provide endless entertainment for family and friends. Even the simple pleasure of feeding fish is an exciting event enjoyed by children of all ages. Kids will be mesmerized as they watch colorful fish play and swim. Encourage children to pick out names for the fish or read books about the plants, fish and other aquarium inhabitants to add an entertaining approach to education.
Enliven Home Environment
Invigorate your home with live plants, fish and other aquarium inhabitants. Bringing a "living" element into your home is a great way to vitalize an otherwise sterile, urban setting. Many housing situations may not be suitable to properly accommodate pets such as dogs. Hectic schedules also exclude the option of having conventional pets. Aquariums are the perfect solution. When you want to add character and life to your space, consider bringing a bit of the outdoors in with a living, thriving aquarium.
Sense of Accomplishment
Aquarium keeping isn't always easy. There's a multitude of tasks that go into making sure your aquarium stays clean, vibrant and healthy. Completing those tasks successfully and seeing your aquarium inhabitants grow and thrive over time can nurture a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
